Agriculture Commission schedules February market discussion with Wild Roots Farm operator

Agriculture Commission · Meeting of January 20, 2026

MONSON — The Monson Agriculture Commission schedules a February meeting with Wild Roots Farm owner Kellie Hummel to discuss launching a weekly market in town. Commissioners Bob Skalbite, Mike Moore, Ben Murphy, Mike Kubaska, Brett Douty, and Denise Koran-Klisiewicz reported that the September 2025 annual market at Memorial Hall succeeded with strong vendor and attendee feedback; the board agreed to continue that annual event. Hummel seeks to relocate her Wilbraham Farmer's Market to Monson and indicated the board to discuss vendor permits, fees of roughly $20 per week, and optimal afternoon timing.

The commission tentatively scheduled its March 24 meeting to revisit development of a Monson Agricultural Directory and an update on farmland preservation work with American Farmland Trust.
