Finance Subcommittee addresses budget shortfalls and compensation

Monson School Committee Finance Subcommittee discusses significant fiscal shortfalls in transportation and operations. Vice Chair Karen Nothe-Valley chaired the discussion with School Committee Chair Alison Morgan and Superintendent Paul Foster, addressing a transportation shortfall of approximately $66,361 expected to grow to $75,000 due to fuel adjustments and McKinney-Vento cost increases. An operating budget shortfall of approximately $70,000 is also under review.
Both School Committee members present expressed preference for Option 3 substitute teacher compensation, which would increase base pay to $110 per day for teachers with bachelor's degrees and $100 for those without.
