Monson School Committee Finance Subcommittee reviews FY26 variance and FY27 state funding prospects. Chair Karen Nothe-Valley and Superintendent Paul Foster discussed an additional out-of-district tuition expense of $57,591 that reduced available funds, though the district expects to end the year with a positive balance of $68,753. A new special education preschool bus route will push the transportation budget over by approximately $64,524.
For FY27, the Governor's rural aid proposal could add $50,000 to $100,000, while Title 1 federal funding is projected to decline to 85 percent of current levels; Chapter 70 minimum aid remains at $75 per pupil, $60,000 below the historical $150 threshold. A working meeting is tentatively scheduled for March 25 to model budget scenarios under level funding.
