Town Meeting · Meeting of May 11, 2026

Monson Annual Town Meeting adopts Planned Village District zoning and 30.4 million dollar FY27 budget. Voters approved a comprehensive zoning amendment submitted by the Planning Board to establish a new Planned Village District on the former Monson Developmental Center campus, creating two subdistricts with density limits of 15 dwelling units per acre in the mixed-use zone and 1 dwelling unit per acre in the lower-density zone, where townhomes and cottage clusters may reach 6 units per acre; the amendment passed by two-thirds majority. The combined FY27 operating budget totaled 30,396,243 dollars, including 14,354,837 dollars for the School Department and 1,637,519 dollars for Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School.

Hope Bodewell, Library Director, confirmed that library hours would be reduced to 25 hours per week. Four citizen petitions failed: firearm exemptions for municipal buildings, electronic voting equipment appropriation, electronic voting bylaw adoption, and establishment of an independent Audit Board.
