Select Board · Meeting of April 14, 2026
Monson Select Board approves $517,000 in FY27 reductions as fiscal crisis deepens. Vice Chair Patricia A. Oney pushed motions to eliminate parks and recreation (voted 2-1) and the cemetery department (unanimous), close Memorial Hall, reduce library hours to 25 per week, and cut Senior Center operating hours.
Oney also moved to place Select Board stipends on the reduction list, passing 2-1; the Board instructed Town Administrator Jennifer L. Wolowicz to consult Town Counsel about eliminating stipends for the Water/Sewer Commissioners and Board of Assessors as well. The Board unanimously approved placing a Siemens energy-efficiency debt exclusion ballot question on June 9; a draft recall-elections bylaw was tabled pending further discussion.
