MONSON — Select Board approves $30.4M FY27 budget with modest school increase and town cuts. The joint Select Board and Finance Committee meeting on May 4 unanimously backed a combined budget totaling $30,396,243, with schools receiving $11,351,837, a 1.9 percent increase, and town departments absorbing $371,473 in reductions. Vice Chair Patricia A.
Oney cautioned that the town has been drawing on reserves and free cash for operating expenses contrary to conservative fiscal policy, and warned the practice threatens the bond rating needed for an upcoming $5.5 million fire-station bond.
