Select Board approves holiday lighting funds, appoints three to arts council.

Monson Select Board unanimously approved a $4,000 holiday lighting expenditure and three Municipal Arts Council appointments. Patricia A. Oney moved the lighting appropriation from the Gifts to the Town account; the board also unanimously appointed Reed Coles, Alan Morin, and Robert Wilson to the arts council with terms through June 2027, 2029, and 2028 respectively.
The board heard a public hearing on a Community Development Block Grant application from Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, which can provide up to $950,000 per town for construction-ready infrastructure. Evan Mastroiani of PVPC said the state has offered no-cost design services; Highway Surveyor Ben Murphy and Water/Sewer Superintendent Craig Jalbert discussed a Harrison Avenue project including water, sewer, drainage, and streetway work. The board approved a brick fundraiser for Memorial Hall renovations and released eight sets of executive-session minutes spanning January through November 2025.
