Select Board enters executive session on police contract negotiations

MONSON — Select Board unanimously approved entry into executive session to discuss International Brotherhood of Police Officers contract negotiating strategy. Town Counsel Katherine Feodoroff reported the IBPO countered the town's opening position with 3 percent annual increases structured as cost-of-living adjustments across three years. A first mediation session held the prior Friday was described as unproductive.
Board member John R. Morrell requested awareness of comparable compensation provided to other town employees under the AFSCME contract and consideration of Monson's geographic position in western Massachusetts.
