Select Board · Meeting of April 28, 2026
Monson Select Board rescinds prior budget cuts, backs energy debt question. Vice Chair Patricia A. Oney and members John R.
Morrell and Peter Warren unanimously rescinded cuts to parks and recreation, the cemetery department, and Council on Aging staffing after agreeing the town cannot sustainably reduce essential services. The Board advanced a debt exclusion question to the June 9 ballot that would remove approximately $300,000 in annual Siemens Public, Inc. energy-lease interest payments from the Proposition 2½ cap, freeing that amount for general operating costs. A joint Finance Committee meeting was scheduled for Monday at 6:30 p.m. to consider further reductions to the FY27 budget.
