Water Commission seeks $37,000 for Palmer Road well repairs

Monson Water & Sewer Commission approves emergency funding for failed Palmer Road pump. The Commission voted unanimously to seek $37,000 at the May Special Town Meeting, $18,800 for a new 75-horsepower submersible pump and motor, and $18,060 for well cleaning and rehabilitation, with funding to come from the Water Emergency Reserve ($16,000), Operating Budget, and Water Free Cash. In related action, reinsurance valuations for both Ely Road water tanks raised FY2027 indirect costs by $2,000, pushing the proposed water rate up 5 cents per 1,000 gallons to $7.55, the first increase in years.
